PeekDoodle™ Art Frame: questions and answers

Short answers to the questions people ask before ordering the PeekDoodle™ Art Frame. If yours is not here, email support@peekdoodle.com and a person will answer.

What is PeekDoodle?

PeekDoodle is an A4 picture frame that opens from the front on a magnet and stores your child's older drawings inside it. Today's drawing shows through the mat; roughly fifty earlier ones sit flat behind it, held by two elastic bands. It is sold only at peekdoodle.com.

How many drawings does it actually hold?

About fifty sheets of ordinary A4 drawing paper, and more than that if the paper is thin. The inside cavity is roughly 15 mm deep, so thicker card, sugar paper or painted sheets take up more room and the number drops. Thin printer paper goes well past fifty.

What size paper fits?

A4, which is 21 × 29.7 cm or 8.3 × 11.7 inches, the standard sheet in most of the world. The frame itself is about 34 × 25 cm. With the white bevelled mat fitted, the visible window is about 16.5 × 25 cm; take the mat out and you see about 21 × 29.9 cm.

Will it fit US letter paper?

Yes. US letter is 21.6 × 27.9 cm, so it is slightly wider and slightly shorter than A4. It sits inside the frame and behind the mat without trimming. The mat window is cut for A4 proportions, so a letter sheet shows a little more of its top and bottom edge and a little less of its sides.

How does the front open?

Like a book. The whole front panel is hinged on one long side and held shut by a magnet at the opposite edge. Lift the free edge with a finger and it swings open. There is no clip, no screw and no turn-button on the back.

Can I choose which side the hinge is on?

No. The hinge side is fixed and is not a selectable option, so the frame arrives as it arrives. Hang it, open it once or twice, and most people stop noticing. We say it here because one buyer wished they had known.

Can a child open it themselves?

Yes, and that is most of the point. The magnet takes a light pull, so a four- or five-year-old can change the drawing on their own. There is no glass and nothing sharp on the opening edge.

Is the front glass or plastic?

Clear acrylic, not glass. It ships with a protective film on both faces; peel both off before you fit it. Acrylic is the right choice for a frame that is going in a house with children in it and gets opened several times a week, but it does scratch more easily than glass, so wipe it with a soft cloth rather than paper towel.

Does it come with a mat?

Yes. A white bevelled mat, already cut for A4, is in the box. You can also leave it out and show the full sheet edge to edge.

What else is in the box?

The frame, the acrylic panel, the white bevelled mat, traceless hanging hooks and a one-page instruction sheet. Nothing else to buy.

Can I hang it horizontally as well as vertically?

Yes. The hooks let you hang it either way, so a landscape drawing does not have to go in sideways. Decide which way round before you stick the hooks on.

Do I need to drill holes in the wall?

No. Traceless adhesive hooks are included. On painted plaster, tile and painted wood they hold the frame's weight without a drill. On textured wallpaper, bare brick or a freshly painted wall, adhesive hooks are less reliable and a picture hook is the safer choice.

Can it stand on a shelf instead?

There is no kickstand or easel back, so it is made to hang. It will lean against a wall on a shelf or a mantelpiece, and it is deep enough to sit stably on its bottom edge, but it will not stand unsupported in the middle of a table.

What colours does it come in?

Natural wood, white and black. Natural wood is warm oak grain and disappears into most rooms, white suits a nursery or a pale wall, and black makes the colours in a drawing shout.

Is it real wood?

The frame is a wood-look moulding with an acrylic front. It is solid and it has a visible grain, but it is not a hardwood gallery frame and we do not sell it as one.

Can I put things other than drawings in it?

Yes, as long as they are flat and A4 or smaller. Certificates, nursery paintings, school photographs, first handprints, postcards, pressed leaves, sheet music and children's letters all work.

Does it work for two children?

Each frame holds one stack, so two children usually means two frames, and the two-pack at $58.50. If you would rather keep one frame, put a divider card between the two stacks inside so you can tell whose is whose.

How much is shipping?

Shipping is free on every order. Prices show in local currency in most countries.

How long does delivery take?

We dispatch within 2 to 5 business days; at busy times that can extend to 12 business days, and we email you if it does. Transit is 9 to 13 business days after dispatch. Tracking can take up to 5 business days to start updating after you get the number, which is normal and not a sign that anything has gone wrong.

Will I pay customs or import duty?

Where your country charges import duty or taxes, they are your responsibility and are not included in the price at checkout. Most orders are below common duty thresholds, but we cannot predict what a given customs office will do.

Can I change my delivery address after ordering?

Before the order has been fulfilled, yes: email us with your order reference. Once the parcel has been fulfilled and handed to the carrier, the address cannot be changed.

What if it arrives broken?

Email support@peekdoodle.com within 30 days of delivery with your order reference and a photo, and we send a replacement free. If we cannot replace it, you get a full refund. The 30-day guarantee covers faults and transit damage; it does not cover a change of mind.

Can I return it if I just do not like it?

The guarantee covers faults rather than change of mind, so please read the two things we say up front before ordering: the hinge side is not selectable, and the hinge looks like a working hinge up close.

Where is PeekDoodle sold?

Only at peekdoodle.com. If you have found this frame under another shop name at a higher price, it is not us.

Who answers if I email?

A person at PeekDoodle, on Spanish business days, Monday to Friday, from support@peekdoodle.com. The business address is in the legal contact information.
