Setup is one step, and then a short list of things people email us about. Nothing here needs a drill.
Setup
- Peel the protective film off both sides of the clear front panel. There is one on each face and the inner one is easy to miss, which is why a new frame can look slightly cloudy.
- Open the front, check the white mat is the way up you want, and slide the first drawing in behind it.
- Press the front shut; the magnets do the rest.
- Fit the hanging hardware for portrait or landscape and hang it at the child's eye level, not yours. That single choice is what gets the frame used.
It looks cloudy or scratched out of the box
That is the protective film. Both sides. Get a corner up with a fingernail at the edge of the panel.
The front will not stay shut
Too much in the stack. Take a few sheets out. The magnets close a full frame fine, but there is a point past fifty sheets, or fewer if they are card, where the front will not sit flush.
The drawing curls or slides down
The sheet is held flat by the mat and two elastic bands on small rotating plates, not taped. Put the curled sheet under a book overnight first, and make sure both bands are across the stack rather than twisted behind it.
Letter paper will not lie flat
US letter is 21.6 cm wide and the A4 opening is about 21 cm, so a letter sheet is a quarter of an inch too wide. Trim one long edge or accept a slight bow behind the mat. The mat covers the edges either way. Full numbers are in the size guide.
The hinge is on the wrong side
It is fixed and the supplier does not let us or you choose it. If that matters for where you are hanging it, hang the frame the other way round for the same opening direction.
It will not stay straight on the wall
Use both hanging points rather than one. One point plus an off-centre stack inside is what tilts it.
Sun
The front is acrylic, not UV glass. Felt-tip and sugar paper fade in months on a wall the afternoon sun crosses. Any other wall is fine.
Cleaning
Dry microfibre, or a barely damp cloth. No glass cleaner and no kitchen spray: ammonia and alcohol craze acrylic, and that is not reversible.
